Innovation & new business

Innovation and progress are key principles at VERBUND. Our IT specialists – from product management, IT and security architecture to process management – work together to research and implement ideas throughout our innovation process.

Implementation

At VERBUND, experts from various disciplines work closely together to develop and implement innovative solutions in the energy sector. Developers, designers (UX), data scientists and AI engineers combine their expertise to create efficient, sustainable and secure solutions for energy generation and use. This results in products that are not only technically outstanding but also meet the energy sector’s specific requirements.

Information security

Information security is of paramount importance at VERBUND as the operator of a critical infrastructure that is essential for the state. The Security Operations Centre ensures network and system security through continual monitoring, accurate analysis and rapid action.

In the OT Cyber Security Lab, VERBUND is working on new technologies for use in power plant management and is testing these in collaboration with numerous partners.

Automation & scaling

Automation & scaling at VERBUND increases efficiency, productivity and the quality of the Group’s processes. This is due to the interaction between industrial engineers, cloud engineers, DevOps engineers, process managers and automation engineers. Process managers identify potential automation opportunities, while the automation engineers implement them technically. In the Security Operation Centre (SOC), processes are automated to respond quickly to attacks and threats.

Operations & monitoring

The team of cloud and network engineers is responsible for implementing, managing and optimising the infrastructure. Tasks include ensuring stable and secure communication and boosting system efficiency using artificial intelligence. In operations, emphasis is placed on innovation and state-of-the-art IT architecture. Early identification of problems ensures optimal functionality and performance of IT systems.

Support & IT telecoms

Support, IT and telecoms at VERBUND form the backbone of the Group by providing and maintaining its telecommunications infrastructure. In-house expertise enables employees to act quickly and efficiently in managing incidents. The team is not only a central supporter but also an active participant in the value chain, from planning to management. The importance of the IT and telecommunications infrastructure is shown by large industrial projects such as Limberg 3.
