In the VERBUND power plant group in Styria, the energy supply to the population is ensured by 42 power plants of a wide variety of types. The Styrian power plant group is characterised by a large number of smaller to medium-sized power plants. The main tasks of the Styrian power plant group include operational control, monitoring, maintenance, servicing, as well as initial operation and troubleshooting of the power plants.
The VERBUND power plant group in Styria is divided into six master areas. Each area is assigned a number of power plants. These can be storage power plants, run-of-river power plants or diversion power plants. Each master area has a staffed site that serves as the base for the responsible personnel, vehicles, warehouses and workshops. As a VERBUND power plant group, we are also involved in inspections, audits and necessary upgrades to the control technology.
The power plant service works in two shifts to ensure the power plants are always available and running safely. The rest of the time, the service is on call. As soon as problems arise, we make our way to the power plant.
All power plants are monitored and managed by the 24-hour central control room in Pernegg.
The variety of different power plants must be understood in order to be able to respond correctly in an emergency.
