Six run-of-river power plants and 20 employees per site. The sites are responsible for securing the power plants along the Lower Danube, as well as the associated ancillary facilities and branch offices (pumping stations, channels, inlet structures, etc.). In addition to traditional activities, the VERBUND power plant group also coordinates the servicing and maintenance of the locks in order to ensure shipping traffic.
With around 20 employees per site, the VERBUND lower Danube power plant group is responsible for five different run-of-river power plants, including their control stations, in the event of floods.
Among their main tasks are the maintenance and servicing of the power plants, as well as daily repairs and related control activities.
To optimally balance technical planning, budgets, calculations and strategies for the future, there is a dedicated administration department. It is closely coordinated with the other plant groups and specialist departments.
On the Danube River, shipping is particularly important. To ensure this, we also maintain and service the locks in this power plant group.
In addition to maintaining power plant operations, shipping is an important priority in river basins like the Danube. To ensure this, we rely on the use of our ship locks, alongside the proper servicing of our power plants.
