VERBUND specifically funds female students in cooperation with the Technical University of Vienna.

The Scholarship for Women supports three outstanding female students of the TU Vienna for a year. The aim is to attract female technicians to VERBUND and to support their personal development by providing a financial energy boost.

Applications are welcome from committed female students studying computer science, business informatics, industrial engineering, technical mathematics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering or environmental engineering.

It is important for applicants to have already gained some professional experience through internships relevant to their studies. Fluency in German and English is a prerequisite and knowledge of other foreign languages is an advantage.

Information about the VERBUND Scholarship for Women

Individual funding package

The three winners of the VERBUND Scholarship for Women receive a tailored funding package of EUR 5,000 each, most of which is to be used for personal and professional development. The team at the TU Career Center support the scholarship recipients on their path by providing extensive advice.

Extensive multi-stage selection process

The applicants first complete a video interview. The best qualified participants are invited to attend a hearing. This selection process requires the participants to win over a top-class jury with self-presentations. Among others, the jury comprises HR experts and top senior executives from VERBUND, as well as experts from the TU Career Center. Naturally, all applications are handled confidentially.

The application deadline for the current funding year has already passed. New applications will be accepted from March 2025.

Awarding of the VERBUND Scholarship for Women

The scholarships will be presented at a ceremony held in the autumn at TU Wien.

I can understand, however, that working or studying as one of the few in this field can deter many women. “Even the selection process was an exciting experience for me. Through the three-phase process, I was confronted with various situations that could arise during job applications in my professional career. Taking part in the scholarship also gives me the opportunity to develop my skills in a variety of ways and attend conferences that I would not otherwise be able to attend.”

“My parents have nurtured my passion for building and crafting from the very beginning. That’s why it wasn’t a difficult decision for me to visit the higher technical college and then study civil engineering. The first year of school at technical college was a bit daunting, with only five girls in the class of almost 40 students. But by the time I was at university, I was aware that women are definitely present in the construction industry.”
