VERBUND as an employer
As Austria’s leading energy company, we harness the power of water, wind and sun and cutting-edge technologies more than almost anyone else in Europe.
For this, we need a dedicated team that works intensively with our subsidiaries and partners on the entire energy value chain.
At VERBUND, we work at the forefront to help shape the sustainable future of energy:
- We are always looking for the best ideas, no matter who they come from. We want to reach out to the people who are moving forward with us. With our commitment to inclusion, we create an interesting and high-quality work environment for many people.
- We are confident that a green future is possible for everyone. We believe in a future powered solely by renewable energy sources. We believe that we can successfully reduce greenhouse gas emissions significantly and curb global warming.
- We are expanding renewable energy. By 2030, we will generate, transport and store electricity from hydropower, wind and solar power, as well as green hydrogen in an unprecedented and steadily increasing amount. This makes a significant contribution to the security of supply and reduces dependence on fossil fuels.
- We are fighting the climate crisis and are committed to a healthy planet. To achieve this, we are driving forward the transition to clean energy together with politicians, industry, the business community and the people of this country. We welcome everyone who would like to join us in our mission.
We are taking responsibility
Our cooperation is based on a high degree of personal responsibility, mutual trust and integrity.
Sustainability and responsible conduct towards society, the environment and the economy go hand in hand. All of the issues for which we as a company, as employees and as senior executives take responsibility are compiled in our Code of Conduct.
To bring the Code to life, each individual employee’s contribution is required:
Respect
We treat each other with respect.
Ideas
We contribute our ideas and skills.
Willingness to innovate
We communicate openly and clearly, and encourage constructive criticism and the willingness to innovate.
Change
We change our perspective by judging new situations to be “different” or “unknown”, rather than “better” or “worse”.
Openness
We are open and unbiased, and show an interest in new cultures and influences.
We are committed to diversity, equality and inclusion
We are proud of the diversity of our VERBUND employees. We want more diversity, equality and inclusion so that everyone feels they belong and are part of our company. And it doesn’t matter where they come from, whom they love, what they believe in, how old they are, whether they have a disability or not, what gender they are or what circles they move in.
Into the future with more diversity!
Diversity and inclusion are essential components of our corporate culture. Practising diversity and actively helping to shape it are crucial. Our diversity strategy is the basis of this approach and involves annual priorities that enable us to focus on individual issues such as gender balance and disability inclusion.
Gender balance
For us, gender balance is much more than simply promoting women. It is about striking a balance in all areas of the company in order to attract the best people from the labour market for us and our mission, and also to provide the best possible service to our customers. We are committed to a culture that enables career opportunities and a work-life balance for men and women alike.
Disability inclusion
We aim to include people with disabilities in the VERBUND world of work and not just integrate them into it. To include people with disabilities as effectively as possible, the appropriate conditions are required: accessible offices (structural accessibility), accessible IT systems (digital accessibility), and above all, open and aware colleagues and senior executives (accessibility in practice).
In order to live up to all these values, we regularly question our current state in various audits and certifications (e.g. Great Place to Work, ZukunftVIELFALT, berufundfamilie).
At VERBUND, diversity management is established practice. We pay due attention to our employees and embed diverse corporate values in our processes. The independent TÜV AUSTRIA Diversity Management Certificate confirms this. By signing and implementing the Diversity Charter, we also commit to respecting all those who have a relationship with us.
