We offer the following benefits, depending on the location and position:
Benefits for employees at VERBUND
#moveforward with VERBUND – and enjoy many corporate benefits
Our most important asset is our employees – that is why we focus on people. Our benefits are designed to meet the individual needs of our employees.
Our benefits
Continuing education
Whether newcomers to the IT sector, skilled workers on generator sets or commercial senior executives: Our employees complete a comprehensive training and continuing education programme with individual goals and learning elements that are jointly defined.
Flexible working
We generally offer flexitime including a 30-hour time account to give our employees the flexibility they need. Our core hours from Monday to Thursday are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and on Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Self-organised shift operation is in place at the power plant sites. As an employer, it is important for us to work together to develop rapid and humane solutions for cases such as a child falling ill or family-related care requirements.
Additional time off
At VERBUND, we generally work 40 hours a week instead of 38.5. This is regulated by a special works agreement. The surplus of 1.5 hours a week is recorded in a special time account and allows us almost two weeks of additional vacation. These hours are usually used up collectively for Christmas and other days off.
Working from home
Depending on the VERBUND company, we offer up to three days working from home. These are coordinated in the team and taken on either a fixed or flexible basis. Work tools such as a laptop, screens, mouse, keyboard and headset are provided for this.
Fit & healthy at VERBUND
We motivate our employees to do something for their health – on a voluntary basis, of course. A few years ago, we set up occupational health management to meet their aspirations for a healthy lifestyle. This includes offerings and opportunities for sporting activities or lectures on healthy nutrition.
Remuneration
Appreciation expressed through attractive social benefits and salaries
In most of VERBUND’s subsidiaries, the collective agreement for electricity supply companies applies. Important rules and regulations of the industry are set out in this, Including minimum wage, working hours, travel expenses, allowances and surcharges.
There are no all-in contracts at VERBUND.
We offer a range of voluntary or collectively agreed social benefits that are available to all employees:
- Pension fund
- Supplementary health insurance
- Discounted lunches
- Child allowance
- Health check-ups
Equality
Equal treatment of all employees is a matter of course. Each employee receives market-based and performance-oriented pay. Voluntary social benefits are available to both full-time and part-time employees.
Income report
Employees receive the same income for the same performance. That’s why we prepare an internal income report every two years. The findings of this income report show that there is no direct discrimination between employees in terms of wages and salaries. We achieve this because we classify all employees strictly according to collective bargaining agreements and pay according to activity and performance with our performance-based remuneration model.
Performance-based remuneration
Performance and results-based remuneration is in line with VERBUND’s commitment to rewarding employees for their individual achievements. Bonuses are calculated based on objective and fair criteria in line with the individual’s performance and the company’s success. This allows the individual performance of each employee to be incorporated directly into the variable salary.
Gender balance
Scholarships and other initiatives
In order to actively promote equal opportunity, VERBUND has set itself the goal of recruiting more women, especially female technicians, to our company.
Mission V-emale – the VERBUND women’s network
Under the banner of “with each other, for each other”, Mission V-emale women’s network connects women from all areas of the company, provides a forum for discussion and hosts interesting and informative events. The goal: Equal treatment of women and men.
The VERBUND Scholarship for Women
VERBUND’s Scholarship for Women gives women in technical professions a financial energy boost for their personal development. We have been awarding the scholarship every year since 2009 in cooperation with the Technical University of Vienna’s Career Center.
Vienna Daughters’ Day
Daughters’ Day is an initiative organised by the City of Vienna. Every year, VERBUND participates in Vienna Daughters’ Day to give schoolgirls an early insight into how exciting technical professions can be.
FIT
By participating in Women in Technology (Frauen in die Technik, FIT), we show female high school graduates the advantages of studying a technology subject. FIT presents successful women in technical professions as role models, helping to dispel reservations about technical or scientific training programmes.
Family time
As a family-friendly employer, VERBUND’s family time allows fathers to take advantage of a “baby or paternity month”. Family time is also recognised as a service period for everyone at VERBUND.

“Family or career? I didn’t have to choose with VERBUND. Despite my maternity leave, I was able to return to my leadership position – part-time.
